January 23, 2008- I'd have to say that the Blu Lounge is one of the few clubs in Montgomery County, Maryland that is tasteful and entertaining. When I first arrived there I had doubts because I'm so use to DC nightlife. I thought the club won't be able to compare but that was not the case. The renovations are fabulous and the people who work there are very polite. I recently got a chance to interview with one of the partners Paul William to get the juicy insight on the Blu Lounge. Here is what he had to say:
Geri C.: So Paul when was Blu Lounge opened?
Paul: It opened on Friday, Nov. 9th 2007
Geri C.: What are your drink specials?
Paul: On Fridays we have half off drinks and all food on the menu during happy hour 6-8pm. On Thursday night we offer one free martini and two for one martini's with happy hour prices which are half off drinks and food. On Wednesday night ladies get free martinis from 6-8pm.
Geri C.: That what's up! Do you have celebrity events?
Paul: Yes, we had live bands, local and professional artists including Tank, Carl Thomas, Mya, Raheem Devaughn, Tyson Beckford, Dawn from EnVogue, Mario, and professional athletes. We do mostly R&B and jazz artists.
Geri C.: Okay so this club is really for the grown and sexy. What nights are you opened?
Paul: We are open Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday weekly and twice a month on Sunday for teen parties
Geri C.: Out of those day which night is the busy and why?
Paul: Our busiest night is on Friday. We have a happy hour and we do a lot of parties for people, whether they are birthdays, company parties, college graduation, and any party you would want to have. It's also busy because we have the area's number one party DJ Alizay. We are in a good area, in the heart of the metropolitan area. Our guests come from Montgomery County, Washington DC, Prince Georges County, and Northern Virginia. We also have a mixed crowd between 21-45 years of age.
Geri C.: What do you think attracts people to the Blu Lounge?
Paul: Several things attract people to Blu. For starter we throw a good, clean party with no fights or drama. We have the number one party DJ in the DMV area. When you have a party with us we make you feel like you own the club that night. basically you're the star. It's not too big and people are personable. We have great service and we cater to the people. The have parking across from the club. Our club is nice and classy with excellent bands and music. We have two rooms and you can rent out one of them. Our drinks and food are delicious for a great price. Lastly we provide excellent service for everyone whether it's at the bar, at a reserved section, or just walking in the door to party.
Geri C.: Do you have long lines to get in to the Blu Lounge?
Paul: We try to avoid long lines as much as possible and because our guests come at so many different times, it usually works out well for us but some nights it can't be avoided.

My recommendation is to go check out the Blu Lounge on 6821 Reed Street in Bethesda MD 20814 on Friday night. It will be an event that you will never forget. Tell them Geri C. sent you.
