Ahhhhh,...Yes this is what I'm talking about.
All year long I've waited for the 2nd Annual Go Go Awards. The gift and the curse is that Radio One station WKYS 93.9 FM has arranged and hosted this event from it's inception. Which unfortunately, will keep a lot of other radio media from reporting on an event which should receive city wide attention...But at least it's happening so props to the them for getting it done. It was long over due.
Washingtonian's know and love the sound of the city; GO GO music belongs to us and whether you love it or tolerate it the GO GO sound is one that the music industry craves. You can hear the influence of GO GO beats in most of the top 40 songs whether POP, Hip Hop or R&B.
"One in the morning' the pancake house...Two in the morning"...While some of the readers might mistake this verse for a Jay Z tune, the DMV knows that it was Rare Essence that created the blueprint for Jay's hit when they dropped the Overnight Scenario.

What about the infectious GO GO beats that producers have produced for industry Playas and Divas....you know what I'm taking about. The names range from Beyonce to Jill Scott to Salt-n-Pepa to Ludacris...so many who have used the sound of our city.
So with all that said since the GO GO sound is homegrown and so hot, it was time that the city came together to celebrate the legends and the new generation bands that create the sound track of the nations capitol.
Of course DC Music & Models was there on the Red Carpet for the event; working side by side with other media outlets like Streetz Magazine and iMEG TV to make sure that we got even coverage on one of the District's hottest events.
