That song still gets the dance floor moving. Never mind that: The Ghost has returned with his hit single "Blow my mind" featuring super producer Swiss Beats off of the new project "Super Gangster". Go and cop it 'cause its hot. We got the chance to kick it with Styles P over at the Unruly offices for a few and ask him about the new project.
DCMM: What sets this CD apart from the your earlier projects?
Styles P: Lyrics, the raw lyrics that's in it, the content. I gave my heart and soul on this one. I'm more mature and I get wiser with time. I felt good and I worked for myself on this one; ownership, so it was totally different energy going into this one.
DCMM: How is the relationship with Koch Records:
Styles P: I love Koch. Sheek was already over there doing his D-Block project. I seen how they stay true to game, how they work with people and how they love hip-hop. So I felt it was a good fit for me.
DCMM: You worked with a lot of talent on this project: collabs with Ghostface Killa and Black Thought....how did those collabs come about:
Styles P: My first album I only worked with MOP and the second one I worked with Talib Kweli. On this one I just wanted to reach out to people I respect. I always focus and I never want a project to seem like it's someone else's album and not yours..., But I wanted to make good music with people I respected and thought would make a good collabo, so I reached out to those people.a;

DCMM: You got another hit on the CD with Sheek and JadaKiss, how was it with the three of you working together:
Styles P: Beautiful, that's what we do you know... our chemistry is always there. You hear the music, you hear we didn't lose a step. We gained a couple of steps if anything. We just waiting to drop that too in a couple more months,...of course my CD is out now so get it. Silver Back Gorilla (Sheek Louch) is out in February get that...JadaKiss is on Rockafella /Def Jam D-Block situation getting his solo album. Then we going to knock out the LOX joint, we got some fire. Watch out for the "Blow my mind " Remix with the LOX.
DCMM: So how do you balance being a co-CEO of a record label, an artist and a family man:
Styles P: You got to survive everyday so you got to do what you got to do: I mean you know some days are rough. Just like everybody else, I survive and take the good with the bad. I try to learn from my experiences and move forward in life. I try to make myself and those who are around me comfortable.
DCMM: What type of advice would you offer to those trying to get into this industry:
Styles P: Pray to God, read, find something to fall back on and watch your surroundings. Now days is different from when we came in the industry: its a different industry. We put out a large amount of work and we added to our catalog weekly. So I would tell you to work hard and spread it out to the DJs as much as you can. We (The LOX) built a following... when we came up that's what we did. Now days some people come out and they make it happen instantly, they got an instant hit. But if you want to be an Indie artist; you got to go everywhere get it to the DJs, grind hard, pump your music, get it to the people and accept that it may not not turn out the way you want it to turn out. You got to keep going hard, keep going to bat. Establish yourself. A lot of people want to come out and just shoot to the top.. you got to walk first.
