Articles: URSCENE WMD2

As someone who has appreciation for music, I never pass up the chance to check out local talent doing their thing, especially if their thing is good.  So when I heard that Jay Bee and Urscene were putting together the hottest display of female talent on the East coast, I grabbed my camera and headed on over to Studio 54.  I have to tell you that if you weren't there to see it, you missed a great show.  It wasn't your typical "open mic" event.  Jay Bee tells me that he actually saw all of these "weapons" perform previously and handpicked them to appear on the show, which in fact guaranteed a top notch turnout. The fact that this event allow the participants to be compensated for their craft makes it even better.  Big ups to Urscene for their great work in providing a platform for local artists to perform.

Well in case you missed it you can check out the whole show at Urscene's website.  Meanwhile, check out the official DCMM review of the show with video highlights of the event and my personal favorite performance picks.

Shy Thoro from Pittsburg Pa

I was impressed by Shy's style.  Great stage performance and energy.

Phayme from Phili   (watch)

Droppin flows ain't easy...but she made it look easy.  Lots of energy and great to watch perform.

Jane Doe                (watch)

The Misses.....She absolutely killed it.  Her rendition of "Song Cry" dedicated to the Hurricane Katrina victims was moving.

Lundon                   (watch)

This young lady needs to be signed right now.  R&B smooth and MC skills.

Porche 9-11            (watch)

I think Porche 9-11 was the hometown favorite, her duet with Fatal Sins was a crowd mover.  Respect Me is a hot single.

Charli                      (watch)

From the industry view, she has the total package. Looks, style and the voice. Great stage presence, she connects with you and brings the audience into her show.
