Up Close & Personal: DYMOND

It's been about 4 years now that I've been dealing with gorgeous models on a regular basis.  So it's like now I'm an authority on what's hot whose hot and other shyt like that.

I say all this to make a point about our next Up Close beauty...

Dymond, I think she's got it; in fact I'm willing to bet money that once the industry finds her it might not let go...for a while.

Stats: Height: 5'5" Measurements: 34-24-36

Let me ask you is there anything that you're involved in as far as projects that you want to talk about?

- Well I just joined with the glamour girls, and we have a lot of projects coming up. I'll be working on a calendar soon and working on building my portfolio.

What general area are you from:

- I am originally from Clovis NM, but I did most of my growing up around Virginia.

Okay so your look is different, gorgeous in fact....
Tell me, what's your ethnicity:

- My mother is black and my father is black and Puerto Rican, so I guess you can say I have some Puerto Rican in my blood.

Besides modeling what other interests do you have:
- Shopping (haha) I actually always had an eye for being a fashion designer and a tv producer. That's what I'm actually going to school for now (TV broadcasting)

Why did you get into modeling did people say that you should model or encourage you to):
- I always loved the camera since I was young. Always posing and smiling. I was walking through the mall one day with my family, I was about 8 and a talent agency stopped me and said they loved my look. Ever since then I just fell in love with modeling.

I notice that models have their own style when it comes to pulling off sexy, playful, or serious shots for a photo shoot, tell me what's your method of getting into character or what's your style as far as your modeling/posing:

- You want to know the honest truth? I pretend that P. Diddy is my photographer and I'm that I'm doing it all for him…(haha) well you wanted the truth.

So what other projects have you been featured in...

- I recently just did a video for a local artist out of Maryland named Duce Real. It was a great experience. Other then that, I've just been building my portfolio.

Being a good looking model, I'm sure you've heard the craziest pick-up lines, what's the craziest one you've gotten?

- The one I hate the most, “When you gonna come model for me baby, I got something for you to model.” If I had a dollar for every time I heard that, I'd be rich right now.

I'm sure you've had some great and not so great experiences with your modeling:

Tell me about one "not so great" experience (just keep it real...people need to know that modeling isn't all sweet)

- It really isn't all it seems. Before I started, all I seen was the glamorous life. After getting turned down a couple times by different agencies, I wanted to stop and try the fashion industry. But I kept going for my dream. The only real bad experience I could really say I've had is people telling me I wont make it, its not for me, not believing in me. But I'm proving them all wrong. A little advice for aspiring models, always keep a tough skin. People are going to say some harsh things, let it make you stronger.

Then tell me one "really positive or exciting" experience:

- Meeting all the celebrities. (haha) its fabulous. Sometimes it makes me feel like I'm the star. Modeling is what I love to do, so every experience that I have is a learning experience.

The Washington DC area, is not really a high profile spot for modeling...but it is good nonetheless because so many people party here and hold events. Come to think of it we have so many designers and private labels as well.
But how do you feel about that, do you feel like there is enough going on fashion wise to push your modeling career in the direction you want?

- I would definitely say so. There are so many connections you can get just attending events, such as fashion shows. DC isn't the fashion capital, so I do believe that a career in modeling would take much longer to pursue verses living in NY or LA.

...what other things do you want to accomplish in your modeling:

- I want to be a role model for other aspiring models. For me, my role model is Eva Pigford. She's gorgeous and is doing so much since she won the show, and I want other young females to say the same about me one day.

Is modeling just a vehicle for you to get into some other field or venture/interests

- Modeling comes first. Once I get my career to the highest level, I would like to produce TV shows. For once I could be behind the camera and instead of in front. (haha)

Where can your fans find you online?

- I love this question. MY FANS! MY FANS can find me on myspace of course. Myspace.com/dymondprinceces. I answer all my mail, comments and friends request myself, so feel free to show love.

And are there any special projects that we should be on the look out for from you or that feature you:

- I did a hair magazine called stylz 4 lyfe in atlanta, which should be out July 24th so go pick it up,even if you don't get your hair done. Next year I will be doing a calendar with the glamour girls, hopefully I will be Ms. April. Shooting a model video in a couple weeks and some more music videos coming up by next year. So watch out for ya girl Dymond cause I'm coming up.

Any shout outs and/or closing thoughts:

- I would definitely love to shout out my mom, dad my brother Hassan, my cousin Antonio and my best friend Tamara. I love them. For 9 years they have been supporting me and my career and they the only people I can count on to keep it real with me and tell me like it is. And to the Glamour girls for giving me the opportunity to work with them and to live the glamorous life.

If there are any other things you want to mention that I didn't cover please feel free to mention them here:

- Nope, the interview went great. Thank you for choosing to me be the model of month. And thank you Ray, for noticing me and also giving me an opportunity…yes I had to give u a shout out. (haha)
