Up Close & Personal: LIZZ ROBBINS

The Washington DC area is known for several things.  One of those things would be the female to male ratio, which by the way plays out to brotha's advantage   One other thing would be that we have many gorgeous women representing the area.

None of them being made equal,... Lizz Robbins happens to be a stand out.

Lizz is one of my favorite models from the Washington DC area.  I've remained attentive to this model's career ever since seeing her in the Beauty of the Week section of JET Magazine.

Enough of my chatter, on to the interview.

Vital info for all you number crunchers out there: Lizz Robbins  5'3" height  36-24-38 Eye color/Hair color (Both are Brown)

DCMM: So tell me a little bit about you:

LIzz: Well, my name is Lizz Robbins, I'm a model/ actress, from the DC Metro Area and I also work fulltime for an IT Company. Besides modeling and acting, in my spare time I love to hang out with friends and I love to read.

DCMM: Are there any new projects in which you are featured that we should be on the look out for...":

Lizz: I recently did my first interview for RHN (The Real Hip-Hop Network), you can look for that on rhn.tv. I have some other projects in the works as they matriculate I will post them on my Website www.lizzmodel.com or my 1 and only myspace page www.myspace.com/lizzmodel

DCMM: What was it like working on a major project like the LL Cool J shoot?  What have been some highlights for you during the "Remy Tour?

Lizz: It was awesome, he is so down to earth and charismatic and a gentleman, it was definitely an experience I will remember.   The Remy Tour has been great, I've met so many people from so many different walks of life and I've been to places I have never been to. The place that stands out is New Orleans especially with all they've been through because of Hurricane Katrina. They are very strong people and they are recovering, but help is still needed so I encourage everyone to still contribute to the relief fund.

DCMM: What made you decide to get into modeling?

Lizz: I came out the womb posing LOL!  What actually made me start was one of my classmates who took some photos of me for his photography class and he said how photogenic I was and the rest is history.

DCMM: I notice that some models have a distinct style as do photographers,  so what's your approach to modeling or what's your style.

Lizz: I usually feed off the photographers. It also depends on the style or theme for the shoot. If I'm shooting for KING, I'm not going to use the same style that I would use for Remy Martin. When you can connect with the photographer the finished product is usually pretty good.

DCMM: What do you think about the modeling industry as it pertains to the Washington DC area:

Lizz: I think its a great place to get your start and your name out there. It depends on where you want to go with modeling. If you want to get into more high fashion, New York is definitely the place to be. For me, getting name my out there started in DC, with it being the nations capital its a great place to market yourself.

DCMM: Being an attractive model ...I'm sure you hear plenty of pick up lines: What's the craziest one you've heard?

Lizz: Oh my, there are so many, but the one that sticks out is:  Your lips would make a lollipop glad to be a sucker.

DCMM: What's the best thing about modeling?

Lizz: I love taking pictures and becoming a different character for each shoot, but the best thing about modeling to me is meeting and interacting with people, which I love to do, nothing is better than being around different personalities and being able to vibe with people of all walks of life

DCMM: What things in modeling could you do without?

Lizz: Definitely the cattiness and cut-throat competition. Its so unfortunate that its a big part of this business. Some people feel they need to belittle another person in order to make themselves look better, but all it does is turns around and bites them. My whole approach is , if something is meant for me Its going to happen and I'm going to give my all, but if a client likes a model whose big toe turns slightly to the left, he's going to pick that model. I wish everyone could just work together and support each other, or if they aren't fond of the person just try to co-exist if you're in the same business without going back and forth with hateful words. I know I am truly happy when some achieves something that they want in life. I think it's great.

DCMM: What advice would you give to young women who want to get into this field or other fashion related work:

Lizz:  Be prepared to work hard and have patience, in this business patience truly is a virtue to have. Definitely try to make sure they work with quality photographers to produce great photos and ask for references for anyone they are planning to work with. Most importantly, Keep God first in their lives. Faith can take you very far.

DCMM: Are there any people you would like to acknowledge as instrumental in your modeling career or just shout out?

Lizz: First and Foremost God, for blessing me and opening so many doors. My mom for being my one true supporter no matter what, my brothers and the rest of my fam for all their love and support, My Yahoo Group and New Peeps at Myspace for supporting my career and sending their kudos, Datwon, Sean and Freddy of KING Magazine and of course my peeps who have been giving me love from Day 1 (DJ Sixth Sense, Mecca, Ahni, Ra-Ra and Scotty of IDC, Lorenzo “Ice Tea” Thomas, 2 Face, Mad Power Unit, Streetz Magazine, Jeri from Evocative Designs. COM, Big Zo, P-Stew, Antonio the Cuban Cigar Smoker, Jeff Martin, Mo Bounce, VIP E, Neeta and Tamiko of Ideal PR, all the club owners and promoters in DC who let me promote anything I was doing and of course looking out for me at the door and last but not least Eric Taylor from Eviplist.com.  The rest I may have forgot to mention, know that you are in my heart and I appreciate you!
