Yung Berg Interview

The Chi-town native is quietly plotting his take over of the phenomenon we know as Hip Hop.*   You've heard the Sexy Lady single from Yung Berg ft. Junior and the remix w/ Jim Jones and Rich Boy.

Since the day it hit the air waves its been a certified hit.  DCMM got a chance to catch up with YB at the Unruly Record Pool meeting and kick it with him a minute.  Check out the interview and the video performance.

E: YB, you got the hot single Sexy Lady burnin’ up the charts right now, so what it is my man?

YB: Hey man just working’. Shout out to all my sexy ladies...I’m looking’ for you,  we campaigning… I’m running for president. So you know what it “YB or die", "Look What You Made Me” is coming in November.

E: So give me some insight on how the whole “Sexy Lady” thing came about;

YB: It happened real organically, like that’s the problem with niggaz right now. They watching TV “106” and just try to go in and make another song that they've seen and recreate someone else’s swag.  We did that shit in the back of my manager’s crib, it took us like 30 minutes to make that joint and we leaked it to the radio.  It was on a bogus ass microphone.  That’s the song to the video you hear right now we didn’t know what was gonna’ happen.  The sexy ladies started supporting it on the radio on Power 106 out in LA.  Shout out to Felly Fel and DJ E , everybody over there that held me down.  It broke out there then all the labels came and hollered at me…now I got my own label deal off of Epic.  Shout out to Charlie Walk.  I’m like the poster boy for Epic now so you know what it is...we here now.

E: Yo you shinning real big now man…so the whole sexy lady phenomena, it’s real easy when you cater to the women…its really easy because they pick up on that.

Tell me about the remix situation.

YB: The remix was crazy. Jim is down with Koch. We are down w/ Koch so it was a no brainer.  We reached out to Rich Boy and he was down to do it…

They all laid it…I leaked it to radio, then  I was like “yo I wanna shoot a video”. I used some of my own money from my pocket and directed the video myself. And it’s out there right now just showing young people that dreams still do come true and you can make it happen.

E: Yes sir he’s a true testament for real so tell us before we leave...you mentioned an upcoming CD.  What’s that about?

YB: You know what we got the EP that’s in stores right now bringing it back to the essence of hip hop where it use to be….I didn’t wanna just drop Sexy Lady and people be in love with Sexy Lady,… I want people to be in love w Berg and let ‘em know that Berg is the Yung Boss and I’m someone that’s trying to make a different lane, opening up doors and breaking barriers for young people to come through.  So we dropped the EP and the album comes in November… its crazy and guaranteed to be a classic.

E: Who’s on it?

YB: Lets see: DJ Cali, Rich Boy, Jim Jones, Eve, Khaili Budz, Ray J, Shawnna (DTP), Fabolous, Twista, Amerie and Trey Songz...are all on the album and its crazy.

E:  Whoa…you got any room for me on that joint man. (laughing) whas good?..lol

YB: Yo, if you gotta hit I gotta hear it…(laughing) lemme know whas’ good. I got to hear it..lol

E: That’s whas up.  So Berg, you got any advice for the young up coming artists trying to get into the game right now?

YB: The best advice I could possibly give to everyone that's watchin’ me right now would be:  Keep your mind right; The first rule is to keep God first in your life; second keep your family tight and after that you just gotta keep grindin’ and keep moving forward and you can be like me cause I was like you 6 months ago…that’s real talk.
