DCMM: Is modeling something that you always knew you
would or is it something that just happened for you?
Sasha: I've always wanted to be
a model since elementary school,
I don't know if that's normal
(laughing) but since elementary:
now that I'm older I can see
that is not as glamorous as I
thought it was: I still do love
modeling but at the same time I
have other goals …this is just
to get my foot in the door and
get my face out there.
DCMM: So modeling is a stepping
stone for you; tell me what you
have in store.
Sasha: Yes it is a stepping
stone, it just puts you in
positions to meet people who can
take you to that next level.
I feel like modeling is a very
good way to give you exposure no
matter what you do. I plan
on starting my own clothing
line; I went to school for a few
years and I have acting in mind
too: so modeling is a big deal
when it comes to exposure.
DCMM: Sasha you've had a lot of
success in modeling. Okay
so I'm going to ask you to keep
it real at this point; because a
lot people think its all sweet,
so just tell me about one not so
great experience that you've had
in the industry.
Sasha: Well the negative part
about it is how people look at
you… it's like they look at
urban models as if they're
whores or assume most of them
are strippers when it's not
really the case. In my
case, I've never danced, I have
a good job. People stereo
type you. I would rather
be an urban model than a high
fashion model because they have
to do nude regardless. But
with urban you have a choice to
do lingerie, thong, etc.
Its art to me, its art whether
its body paint or lingerie,
clothing ads, etc… I think
because I'm thicker than most
high fashion models, they look
at us different. When on
the real its some high fashion
models that are whores…but they
just down us and I think that
that's the negative side about
modeling. That people
don't really respect what we do.
DCMM: So tell me about one
positive thing that sticks out
in your mind?
Sasha: The positive would have
to be me knowing that I'm
working hard now and in the
future it's going to pay off and
I'm going to be very successful.
Seeing what I've done and as you
can see its good; getting the
support from my family and my
friends. That's the upside
about it…
DCMM: What type of advice would
you give for young women that
want to get into modeling?
Sasha: I'm going to start of by
saying keep your head up and
stay focused. Learn how to
determine what's real and what's
fake. Have standards, work
hard its all about working hard,
of course market yourself and
getting connects its all about
staying focused, the main thing
is to stay focused.
DCMM: Anyone you'd like to thank
or shout out.
Sasha: I have to thank my agent
Jay Dee 1208 Entertainment, my
brothers that work for Remix
Kings Music Group, Gutter Music,
Titanium Girls Magazine Van
Silk, Sandy with Smooth Girl
Magazine, my Mother, my step
Father, my sister, my
grandmother, my family, my
boyfriend, I have to really
thank them because they give me
that big support that I need to
stay focused.
